A little dutch village from the past

The Zaanse Schans village has been re-created with original houses that were re-built all together in the same place to give a flavor of what were the old dutch villages. The panorama on the river and the lovely windmills is not to be missed. There may be a lot of Japanese tourists, but if you go there in winter, it is a lovely day trip.

Main activity : An old Dutch village with windmills

You will enjoy a walk along the streets of the village. You can stop by the clog factory and the cheese factory for a fun demonstration of the local way of producing those ; the clog manufacturing is pretty impressive for kids.

Lunch break : Restaurant "les deux ponts"
Navigator : Slimdijk 2, Oudendijk

It's worth while driving a bit to escape from the uggly touristic sandwiches from Zaanse Schans and enjoy a lovely view on the polders at les Deux Ponts. The terrace outside is fantastic when the sun shines.
